SIDE GALLERY LATEST

Latest news of the on-going issue of Arts Council funding is here: http://createsend.com/t/r-FE6A3826F1300760

There is also an article by the writer Lee Hall (who wrote the screenplay for Billy Elliot) in the Times on Saturday, April 30th, in an unprecedented double page broadsheet spread complete with photographs from the Side collection that have influenced Lee in his work. The headline reads, “One of the most influential arts groups you have never heard of”. Another quote, “No other group has ever collected such a deep, varied and important record of a region”. One of the pictures is by Dean Chapman who gave the Harry Holder Lecture at DPS in 2007.

Meantime, 'A Luta Continua!' continues to be well received and there has been a particularly good response to the 'Open Call' element  of the exhibition.

People are continuing to email Side with images of protest, revolution and resistance from around the world, allowing this section of the exhibition to continually grow and evolve.

Side will continue to add work until the last week of the exhibition (deadline: Thursday 19th May) so it's not too late to get involved.
