CLUB NIGHT NEWS 26.5.11

DIGITAL NIGHT

Next Wednesday, 1st June, County Hall, 7.00 to 9.00 pm. All members welcome. Will include a demonstration by recent winner of the 2nd Progress Print competition, Ian Stafford, using Nik Color Efex software and more! There will be a further update about some other interesting demonstration on the Blog shortly.

MEMBERS NIGHT 7th July – Themes and Variations

This is the night a number of members show pictures and talk about them. It is undoubtedly one of the highlights of our DPS year. Any of our members are welcome to take part whether new or long-standing, experienced or new to photography. Programme Secretary Paul Ritchie said, “It’s simply a matter of showing a few pictures and talking about them. Perhaps they are linked by a theme, a project or technique”. To register your interest, there is a list on the notice board to put your name down. Speak to Paul on club night if you need to know more. You can show prints or images by digital projection. Ideally, the digital images are on memory stick.

ASSIGNMENT SALTBURN!

The debrief was Wednesday 25th May 7.00 pm County Hall room 2. Many and varied was the work shown and members spent an enjoyable and stimulating couple of hours sharing experiences and discussing the prints. The feedback from the group was invaluable and will help members go on to have successful competition and exhibition pictures.

The Saltburn gallery of just some of the images from the day will be on the Assignment section of the website soon. The next outing will be announced by Colin shortly.

ANNUAL EXHIBITION

This is the big one! It will once again be in the Galilee Chapel, Durham Cathedral and seen by thousands of visitors from all over the UK and from all over the world. It runs from 9th to 26th July. All members are invited to provide two of their best, recent (say 2010/2011) prints in 20x16 inch or 40x50 cm mounts. Help is available with mounting if needed.

Deadline to the club is 23rd June. You also need to confirm your intention to take part – there is a list on the board.

KNOCKOUT COMPETITION June 30th

Another regular and popular feature of the programme. See recent Blog for details.
