CLUB NEWS 28th Jan 2010

PRINTS FOR NCPF KNOCKOUT
Your very best prints are needed! Last chance to bring prints in is next Thursday, 4th February. The event itself will be in Washington, 7th February, as previously reported. The top two clubs will go on to represent the Federation at the national PAGB finals in October.

TRIO PROJECTED IMAGES
The closing date is not until 18th February. However, it will be helpful if entries are emailed to Roger or brought in on disc early. Up to three images per competition can be entered. Please check the rules carefully.
EXHIBITIONS
Alan Stott is working on plans for members to show Goth and Pickering Wartime Weekend prints in May, and a music related project later in the year - details to follow. Meantime, members’ prints are on display on the lower ground and upper floors of Clayport Library as previously reported.
FIRST DIGITAL NIGHT OF THE YEAR
Wednesday, 3rd February, County Hall, room 1a, 7 to 9 pm. Demonstrations by John Gordon, Alan Clarke and John Attle.

DPS ANNUAL PRESENTATION DINNER 5th February

Still time to book for yourself and guest for this hugely enjoyable evening at which the trophies are presented to the 2009 trophy winners. The Vice President Award, for outstanding service to the club, will be announced on the night. Venue is the Bowburn Hall Hotel, 7.30 for 8. Payment is needed Thursday 28th January. NCPF ANNUAL CLUBS CHAMPIONSHIP (aka NCPF KNOCKOUT)

Don is requesting you bring in your Valente 09, or any other outstanding mounted prints on Thursday 28th Jan. From these, our club entry in the competition will be selected.

The event itself will be held at Harraton Community Centre, Bonemill Lane, Washington (NE38 8BQ) on Sunday 7th February 2010 from 9.30 am. Interested members are welcome to attend. 1st PROGRESS PRINT COMPETITION

The Closing date has been extended and is now Thursday 28th January. New and less experienced members are particularly welcome. The B section is for you!

CLAYPORT LIBRARY EXHIBITIONS

DPS member, Elaine Vizor is showing pictures in the Media Suite, Lower Ground Floor, from her documentary on the making of the Joseph Hillier sculpture, In Our Image. Not to be missed!

Steam train prints by members will be on the top floor soon.

Alan Stott is inviting members to submit Self Portraits to him for a show which is to open in May.

CLUB NEWS 14.1.10

COMPETITIONS – Due to the unforeseen circumstances the closing date for the 1st Progress Slides and Digital has been extended to next Thursday, 21st January (which is also closing date for 1st Progress Prints).

ANNUAL PRESENTATION EVENING – Bowburn Hall Hotel, 5th February. Bookings now being taken for this popular night.

NCPF KNOCKOUT – Your best prints wanted! Please bring them to the club before the end of January. Our panel of selectors will then choose the ones going into battle! The “Battle” will be on Sunday 7th Feb, Washington.

DIGITAL NIGHT – Next meeting is Wednesday 3nd February, County Hall, room 1a 7-9 pm.

WEBSITE GALLERY – reminder, your four images have to be with John Brown by 14th Feb.

BOTANIC GARDENS EXHIBITION – 17th April to 7th May. Space is limited to around 55 prints, one per member, and it will be first come first served so you need to put your name down as soon as possible.

FILLINGHAM TROPHY – the set subject is “Contre Jour” and the images have to have been taken after the announcement in November. Closing date 13th May.

SIDE GALLERY EXHIBITION

Women in Prison by Jane Evelyn Atwood opens on Saturday 16th Jan with a free event at 2.00 pm introduced by the photographer and runs until 13th March. Jane Evelyn Atwood, a Paris based New Yorker, is one of the world’s foremost photojournalists and the first recipient of the W Eugene Smith Award.
