Hot Dates Special: BEAMISH GREAT STEAM FAIR

Out of Hours Photography Night

From Stephen Bell

Beamish are offering a special opportunity to see and photograph Beamish in a special, out of hours photo opportunity during the forthcoming Great North Steam Fair. On Saturday 14th April, from 5.45pm to 9.00pm there will be unique photo opportunities in the Edwardian Town and the Colliery Yard. This is a great chance to see and photograph historic vehicles in a period setting and to get some great shots for your portfolio. The Museum extends this offer to all photographers for a one off fee of just £10 to cover operational and running costs for the evening. Demand is high for this evening and it is a ticket-only event. Tickets are limited to just 200, and there will be a small number available on the door on the evening of the event. Book early to ensure you don't miss out. Tickets are available online (www.beamish.org.uk) or by telephoning 0191 370 4000 (Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm).

On the evening, many vintage transport exhibits will be in operation. The following star attractions are confirmed:

1923 LNER Y7 (68088) engine and Head Wrightson 'Coffee Pot No.1' of 1871 will be in steam at the Colliery Railway with various colliery wagons.

A selection of period transport, including visiting tram Birkenhead 20 (built in 1900) will be positioned on the Edwardian Town Street. The 1893 Steam Gallopers will be on static display on the events field (next to Town) for visitors to photograph.

Costumed staff and volunteers will be on hand with the period transport giving you an opportunity to photograph these scenes without the usual crowds.
