CLUB NIGHT NEWS 13.1.11

NCPF CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS – JOE NEEDS YOUR PRINTS!

The Clubs Championship is held each year to find the top projected image and print clubs in the Federation. It is a competition for club entries. Joe Grabham and his team are organising our entry and urgently need your very best prints (projected images are already to hand) from which to choose our final entry. Please bring them to the club next week latest.

It is to be held on Sunday 13th February 2011 at Harraton Community Centre, Bonemill Lane, Washington, NE38 8BQ. Any member of the Society can attend. You will enjoy seeing the judges marking the entries and seeing our team at work.

ST CUTHBERT’S HOSPICE CALENDAR 2012

Thanks to those who have contributed pictures. Email tonygriff@gmail.com if you want to support this wonderful charity but have not got round to it!

DPS BOTANIC GARDENS EXHIBITION: Folio 2011

Only 10 places left. One print per participating member but you have to put your name down (the list is on the notice board). Then it is simply a matter of bringing in your print in a 20x16 inch mount any time up to 3rd February, though the sooner the better. There is an ace organising team led by Don Bennett. Contact Don if you’d like to help in setting up on 13th February. The end result will be an exciting exhibition of photography that will be seen and enjoyed by huge numbers of people.

COMPETITION COUNTDOWN

The closing date for 1st Progress Prints is 27th January. There will be no extension! This is due to Print Competition Secretary Alan Stott needing time to process the prints into digital projection format for the enhanced enjoyment of the members on results night. In the Print Progress competitions members can enter 3 prints either in the A or the B sections and it is important to label the back of your entry correctly. This is the first of three Progress competitions during the year. The winners are the ones with the most points at the end of the year awarded by the judges. It’s (one of) the big ones!

Please check the rules in your programme carefully including General Competition Rules.

ANNUAL PRESENTATION DINNER

28th January, Bowburn Hall Hotel. Last chance to book (and pay for) this great night out is next week. A traditional feature is that everyone brings at least one prize for the raffle which is a golden opportunity to find a home for those unwanted Christmas gifts!

CLUB NIGHT – INTERVAL REFRESHMENTS

We are opening up the organisation of the all important club night break to more members. Rather than the “Privileged few” we are moving to a system of volunteering open to all. VP TG said, “One volunteer is worth 10 press-ganged men or women”. To take part, simply put your name down on the rota and enjoy. Training will be given if needed and the volunteers have free refreshments on the night.

ASSIGNMENT METRO

Please bring in your Gallery 8 images next week. The review of prints is Jan 22nd, County Hall. Next up – North Shields here we come. Details to follow.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB!

Following ideas and feedback from new members last year, new members in future will receive a Welcome to the Club information pack. The idea is to fast-track members to access to the many and varied activities of the Society. Thanks to Justine and Dennis, who’s idea it was, and the many volunteer new members who gave their feedback.
