CLUB NIGHT NEWS 8.7.10

ANNUAL EXHIBITION, GALILEE CHAPEL, DURHAM CATHEDRAL

Volunteers will be setting up will be from 10.00 am Friday 9th July. It should be a quicker process than in the past due to stands already being up. Feel free to join in!

The exhibition will be opened at 7.00 pm by special guest Pat Porret, LRPS, APAGB, with access to the cathedral between 6.30 and 8.30 for members and guests. Photography is allowed.

The stewarding list at the club is now filling up. Time slots are10-12, 12-2, 2 to 4 and 4-6, 9th to 22nd July. Please put your name down for the ones you would like to do as soon as possible.

DURHAM MINERS’ GALA 10th July

Members will be out again in force photographing the 126th Big Meeting, continuing a tradition that goes back 60 years. The aim is to capture the music, the banners, the people through the eyes and cameras of the individual and amazingly diverse talents of DPS photographers. We are grateful for the support once again of the Durham Miners Association and Durham Cathedral.

Look out for fellow members. Old hands will show you the ropes, best vantage points etc, if you are new to the Gala.

BRASS Durham International Festival

The book of DPS members’ photographs of past Brass Festival events has now been published. More news of this next week and how you can obtain copies.

The festival is still on, until 18th July, and includes photography opportunities such as Jaipur Kawa Brass Band at the Apollo Pavilion and the DCBBA Entertainment contest at DLI Museum. www.brassfestival.co.uk

ASSIGNMENT GROUP

Urgent! Will all participants please send Colin 3 images from each of the past events you attended asap. This is for the members night 16th September but needed before our August break. The pressure is now on following the hugely successful members night tonight!
