BIG MEETING MEMORIES of 2009

A DPS exhibition of photographs of the Durham Miners Gala 2009 is now on at the Town Hall entrance gallery until the end of July. Pictures by: ANGY ELLIS, BOB BACH, GEORGE PEADON, JOHN ATTLE, JOHN BROWN, JOHN GORDON, LOUISE TAYLOR, ROBIN WALLACE and VERONICA BARKER.

Members have been photographing this major event in the Durham calendar for many years and will be out again for Big Meeting 2010 on Saturday 10th July. There are briefing notes available to new members not familiar with how things work on the day. Email tonygriff@gmail.com for a copy.

STREETS OF BRASS

A book of DPS members’ photographs of past Brass Festival events is to be published shortly.

DIGITAL NIGHT Wednesday 7th July

County Hall, 7 – 9 pm. Come along and enjoy Photoshop (and other software) demonstrations. Special requests can be accommodated including bringing along your own images: j.k.gordon@btinternet.com

ANNUAL EXHIBITION, GALILEE CHAPEL, DURHAM CATHEDRAL

The prints are now all in, organised and labelled. Setting up will be from 10.00 am, Friday 9th July. Volunteers are needed for this enjoyable but considerable task. Simply turn up on the day.

The exhibition will be opened at 7.00 pm by special guest Pat Porret, LRPS, APAGB with access to the cathedral between 6.30 and 8.30 for members and guests.

The stewarding list is now up at the club. Time slots are10-12, 12-2, 2 to 4 and 4-6, 9th to 22nd July. Please put your name down for the ones you would like to do as soon as possible. Given the wonderful setting and the chance to meet and chat to visitors from all over the world, this is an opportunity not to be missed. Hurry!

ASSIGNMENT GROUP

The next outing and challenge will be the Tall Ships, Hartlepool, 7th to 10th August. Any member can take part. Contact Colin to be on the mailing list and receive more information: colinarmstead@tiscali.co.uk .

Meantime, will all participants please send Colin 3 images from each of the past events you attended asap. This is for the members night 16th September.

PHOTOGRAPHY NIGHT FOR MEMBERS IN THE CATHEDRAL

CLUB NIGHT 29th July

Members will be showing cutting edge AVs! The discs need to be given to Mavis over the next two club nights or posted to her.
