There was a large and enthusiastic gathering of members and guests taking a first view of the Society’s Annual Exhibition in the Galilee Chapel in Durham Cathedral.
DPS President Tony Griffiths thanked the management and staff of the Cathedral for their support over two decades, the DPS organising team, led by Hon Secretary Colin Armitstead and the photographers, both new and experienced, who had produced the outstanding prints on display.
Distinguished guest Malcolm Kus ARPS DPAGB EFIAP from Alnwick CC, in a witty and entertaining speech, opened the exhibition, highlighting the diversity of photography being achieved at Durham. In awarding the Ted Mansell Trophy, Malcolm said it was impossible to choose the “Best” picture in the show, instead giving it to the one he liked the most.
The “Winner” will be announced on Thursday to the members not able to attend the opening and the image will appear on this Blog soon after.
The exhibition is on until 17th June
