NCPF Championship 2011

Last Sunday members from 19 photographic clubs packed Harraton Community Centre in Washington to compete in this year’s Championship. The winner and runner-up in the print and PDI sections go on to represent the Federation in the national finals later this year. It was a disappointing day for Durham and we went out in the first round, finishing 10th in both sections, but it was a close thing – a handful of points would have seen us through to the final. In the Memento Trophy (for clubs not making it to the final) we finished third. At the close of the day the honours went to Northallerton and Stokesley, who came first and second in prints and in PDI.

Individual awards went to Sandy Furniss (Northallerton) for "Reddish Egret" in the PDI section; Paul Forester (Stokesley) for "Winter Trees" in mono prints; Malcolm Kus (Alnwick) for "Winter Frost" in the colour prints.

With the top mark possible being 15, our own John Wise came close with a score of 14 for “Great Blue Heron” and Les Travis, John Shotton, Margaret Etherington, John Brown, Denis Hardingham and Paul Ritchie all hit 13s at various stages of the competition.
