VOLUNTEERING NEWS - HELP DESK

One of the great things about being a member of Durham Photographic Society is having the great breadth and depth of knowledge of fellow members available if you need help on anything photographic, whether it be cameras, computers, software or techniques. As we become bigger it can be harder for new members to know who to turn to. So we are launching a new initiative that will hopefully fast-track access to this wealth of accumulated knowledge.

If you need some help or advice on any photography topic, there will be a help desk on club nights on a trial basis and you will be directed to someone who can give one to one advice. Alternatively, you can email your requests to Tony G. Please use my current email address, not the one in the programme

We are building a database of members willing to help. If you feel you have something to offer and would like to volunteer please let Tony G know.

We can teach you everything you need to know!

website IN FOCUS – Rob recommends:

Paul Russell

I came across this post on BBC news about street photographer Paul Russell’s interest in country shows which is particularly pertinent at the moment given the popularity of Wolsingham and Stanhope Shows with members;

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/mobile/in-pictures-14986238?SThisEM

I’ve been following his blog for some time now as I really like style. Paul Russell’s website can be found at http://www.paulrussell.info . Check out the “Country Show”.

Funnily enough I had emailed him just prior to Stanhope asking him about what kit he used. Refreshingly he seems to travel pretty light. He replied “I don't have that much gear - I use a Nikon 90 with a 18-90 kit lens (that came with the Nikon D70) and a Color Skopar Voigtlander 20mm. I try to get close, but sometimes it's a bit difficult at the country shows with barriers.”
