AGM – ELECTION OF THE COMMITTEE
Past President Alan Stott was elected to the position of Print Competition Secretary following Alan Clarke having to stand down. Otherwise, all the 2010 officers were re-elected. Of the committee, Bill Bestford, Joe Grabham, John Attle, John Brown and John Gordon were re-elected and Jim Horne was newly elected. Many thanks to Alan Clarke and Bill Swinburn for their past service.
ROLES OF THE COMMITTEE OFFICERS AND MEMBERS
The following is an extract from General Secretary Colin Armitstead’s report to the AGM:
“I wish to clarify “who does what“ for many of our newer members. The notice asking for proposals for Officers and Committee members may seem odd. The Officers listed in the programme are those who carry out the same functions year by year. These are;
President, Vice President, Immediate Past President, General Secretary ,Treasurer, Programme Secretary, Competition Secretaries and Equipment Supervisor.
The Committee is completed by six Committee members. These see how things go on in committee and hopefully at some time in the future take up an Office. The most important single thing that they do is take on the various functions that become needed as the Society expands and takes on more photographic events etc.
The following list may not be complete but some of the thing carried out are; run the digital group, run the assignments group, run external exhibitions, run our annual exhibition, create and run our web sites, run the blog, press and publicity, external competitions, run the interval refreshments, run the raffle, set up and take down the furniture weekly etc.
You don't need to be on the committee to carry out any of this type of operation, “one volunteer is worth many pressed men” is indeed a truism that we will always appreciate.
So think about it, if not for this year, certainly for next.”
Colin Armitstead
FILLINGHAM TROPHY 2011
As is the tradition, our President, David Trout, announced at the AGM the set subject for the next year: “Juxtaposition”. The Fillingham is a projected digital image competition and members can enter up to three pictures which have to be taken after today’s date. Enjoy the challenge!
ASSIGNMENT : BANKS OF THE TYNE
It’s de-brief time, 24th November, 7.00 pm County Hall, where we will show and discuss the pictures taken on the day. Please bring along up to four prints no bigger than A4 together with a CD of your favourite 8 images for the new Assignments Gallery on the Home page of this website.
GB CUP
We will be competing as a club and hope to do well given the large number of great photographers in the club. There is still time to submit images, fabulous if possible, including Natural History, to Joe for consideration by his selectors. Normal digital competition sizing by email or on disc. Please do this over the next week. Enquiries to Joe - jagrabham@googlemail.com
