Cogan Reviews Clinton

DES CLINTON FRPS FIPF MFIAP gave a truly outstanding lecture to Durham Photographic Society (in association with the Royal Photographic Society) on 6th September 2012

Here is an extract from a review by John Cogan ARPS:

“Photographically, Des uses what is there. He is pragmatic and uses only natural light. No flash is ever used nor does he work with many of Photoshop's magical aids. Diagonals are almost essential to his work even to using tyre-marks in the road as lead-in lines. With the series of images he authored in the Monastery, Des's preference is for monochrome and this choice produces a narrative series of great compassion and understanding. Though made at the behest of the Abbot for publication in a handbook/guide and originally in colour the work is one of great humanity and in the best tradition of the great humanist photographers. Once again it was charm and honesty, patience and the ability to give of his time and expertise that meant Des was able to complete the assignment to everyone's satisfaction.”
