DPS member Joanne Gray says, “I'm documenting a coast 2 coast challenge, 5 PEOPLE- 5 MARATHONS- 5 DAYS from Whitehaven to North Shields.
This challenge is for HELP FOR HERO'S and PC DAVID RATHBAND’S BLUE LAMP FOUNDATION
I've been with the team since Wednesday (not running with them of course!) and will follow them to the finish line in North Shields (NE30 4JF) on Sunday.
Today Fri 27th they will be running from High Bankhill in Cumbria to Haltwhistle.
Tomorrow Sat 28th the team will be running into Hexham and laying a wreath at the war memorial. The Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland will be there to greet them and give a short service at 1400 hrs.
Finally, Sunday 29th the team will be making their way into North Shields, where they will be joined by David Rathband and his Guide about 10k from the finish line and run in with the team.
Not sure of times into Shields, probably approx. 4-5 ish. Lots of photo opportunities and should be very emotional.
I feel very honoured and privileged to be just a small part of this immense challenge.
I am very grateful to our members for their donations at the club last night”.
