7 am Saturday morning and Tom is up with the larks and in the shower. Half an hour (yes HALF AN HOUR) later and Tom has to drag the quilt off Marie to get her out of bed – she is not a morning person. It is nine o'clock and we are finally on our way to Saltburn. We arrive at the car park which is already full of our DPS members. Colin says he knows it must be 10 o'clock because we always arrive dot on time. It's the same on a Thursday night. Colin knows that David will shout out "take your seats please" just as we walk through the door.
We get our kit out and although the weather is a bit grim, we wander down to the beach where we spot a rather large number of horses and riders galloping along the waters edge. There must have been twenty or more. David Forster has beaten us to it and we stop for a chat. We wander back towards the pier and a nice friendly chap tells us that there are some wonderful colours in the rock formations below the cliffs and with Colin's rock challenge in mind, off we dash. The nice friendly chap is spot on with his information and we spend a great deal of time getting some good images (we hope). Next we decide to head towards the town centre to see what we can find there and take the easy route using the famous funicular railway. When we get to the top we are greeted by the paparazzi - Tony, Colin and Ian. We hope they got some good shots of us. We spent our last half hour wandering around the town centre. Doesn't time fly when you are enjoying yourselves?
We made our way down to The Ship Inn. Colin had done it again and found us a really nice lunch. He must spend a lot of his time in pubs doing consumer research. He had obviously been down on his knees again as the weather had really cheered up during the morning. We had a great time as always at lunch joining in with the banter and camaraderie. We now know that Lilian loves lemon cheesecake and that John will never ever agree to do the vote of thanks!
So another successful assignment group outing and we can't wait to meet up on 25th May to see another set of fantastic images.
We travelled back through Redcar and caught Tony and Veronica scoffing lemon top ice creams - but we had already gone one better and just had the full monty and here is the picture to prove it!
