Pickering Wartime Weekend – News Report

Several members enjoyed a great day of photography on Saturday 17th October. This celebration of all things WW2 included 100’s of Re-enactors, a massive parade of wartime vehicles, nostalgic music, steam trains and characters galore. Thousands of visitors flocked to the event from all over the country. No doubt pictures from the day will be seen in DPS Portfolios, competitions and members nights for some considerable time to come!
The 2010 Wartime weekend is a must in the diary for photographers. There is also the North’s biggest steam event 5th to 8th August – Pickering Traction Engine Rally – to look forward to.
“Having recommended this event to fellow members I was a little concerned I may have oversold it but I needn’t have worried. Everyone was clearly enjoying themselves” Stephen Bell
“Even better than Whitby Goth Festival! I had a great day” Neil Maughan
“A very happy day. The crowds of peoplel enjoying themselves. Pictures everywhere – portraits, reportage, what we used to call candids and steam trains on top. What’s not to like?” Tony Griffiths
