Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2009

Organised by the National Portrait Gallery, London and sponsored by Taylor Wessing, the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize has firmly established itself as the leading showcase for new talent in portrait photography. The exhibition displays work by some of the most talented emerging young photographers, alongside that of established professionals, students and gifted amateurs.

BIKEWISE EASTER EGG RUN

If you can help to record this year’s event please contact J Attle.
This is quite a spectacle with hundreds of motor bikes travelling from Durham to Darlington to distribute Easter Eggs to the children in Darlington Memorial Hospital and then the children in the University Hospital of North Durham

31st Northern Counties International Salon of Photography 2010

The closing date for entries is 20th August 2010. Entry forms, that include awards, fees and conditions, are now available from the Society on club nights as well as being on the NCPF website: www.ncpf.org.uk

Award winning webmaster John Brown has done it again! Prepare to party! The dpsdigital portfolio group is now open to all members. Existing members of other portfolio groups can use their existing password. All other members can obtain their password by emailing mail2jb@tiscali.co.uk

dpsdigital works on an ad lib basis – post pictures and comments whenever you feel like it. Beware - portfolio groups can be addictive!

CLUB NIGHT NEWS 11.3.10

NCPF ANNUAL COMPETITIONS

Entries are now all in and being organised by Alan Stott who will pass them on at the NCPF AGM March 21st. Many thanks to Alan for stepping in for Joe Grabham who has not been well (though thankfully on the mend) and good luck to everyone taking part. Judging will be 9th, 10th, 11th April and results posted Friday 7th May.

CLUB NIGHT 8th APRIL - PAGB AWARDS WORKSHOP

Rod Wheelans MPAGB and Anne Greiner MPAGB will be showing successful panels from the past. Members have the opportunity to have their pictures ( digital or print and 5 or 6 rather than a full panel) appraised during the evening by Rod and Anne, which is a golden opportunity for anyone interested in obtaining PAGB Distinctions or anyone looking for feedback from the masters. Please speak to Paul Ritchie if you need more information or wish to take part.

NCPF ANNUAL COMPETITIONS

Entries are flooding in from individual members and being organised by Alan Stott. Closing date at club level is March 11th. Up to 16 entries per member (full rules are posted on the Notice Board which is on the Home page of this website).

BOTANIC GARDENS EXHIBITION

DURHAM TOWN HALL ENTRANCE GALLERY

An exhibition of members’ recent work is now showing. For April, we will exhibit Goth and Wartime Weekend portraits. Please bring your 20x16 mounted prints to the club asap.

PHOTOGRAPHY ASSIGNMENT – HARTLEPOOL

An enjoyable day out was had by all, though the area covered was perhaps too big to easily stay in touch with fellow members! The follow up review will be at County Hall, Wed 17th March, 7 pm. Simply bring in three A4 prints plus as many smaller ones as you like.

CLUB NIGHT 8th APRIL

Much anticipated, this will be a PAGB Awards Workshop run by the renowned duo, Rod Wheelans MPAGB and Anne Greiner MPAGB. Members have the opportunity to have their pictures appraised during the evening by Rod and Anne, which is a golden opportunity for anyone interested in obtaining PAGB “Letters” or anyone looking for feedback from the masters. Please speak to Paul Ritchie if you need more information or wish to take part.

CLUB NIGHT 29th July

This will be a digital Audio Visual night where members will be showing their work. Please speak to Mavis Ord, who is organising the event, for more information. Mavis is also offering help and advice for those that need it. AV technology is moving on apace and if last year is anything to go by we are in for an exciting and enjoyable night. Work needs to start soon though!
