Photographic Evening on Friday 11th September from 6pm till 10pm. We have for the past 4 years held this event inconjunction with a main "Legends of Industry" Steam Gala Weekend which takes place on the 12th & 13th September. During the Photographic Evening we have all our home fleet steam locomotives in steam posed outside our magnificent 1854 Marley Hill Engine Shed, plus two visiting locomotives. At 6pm the engines will be lit up and gradually warmed through, at approx 8pm the locos can be moved about, with various cameo scenes including people and vintage vehicles, the night will finish with all the locos fires cleaned, gradually moving back in the shed for some interior photographic possibilities. The night is usually popular and resonably priced at £7.50 per person, paid at the gate on the night.

NEWS REPORT - EVENING OF PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE CATHEDRAL
Over 40 members enjoyed a special night of photography exclusive to Durham Photographic Society on Thursday 13th August. Both long serving and new members appreciated the opportunity to photograph aspects of this world heritage site building from the inside. Normally, photography is severely restricted but this open evening for members continues the mutually beneficial relationship, going back many years, between the Cathedral and the Society.
Many thanks to Anne Haywood, Durham Cathedral Chapter Steward, and John Attle, Durham Photographic Society, for arranging this hugely enjoyable opportunity.

NEWS REPORT - BIKEWISE 2009, AYKLEY HEADS, DURHAM
This annual event, aimed at improving safety and security for bike enthusiasts across the region, as well as providing a hugely enjoyable family day out for all, organised by Durham Constabulary, goes from strength to strength. A number of Society members were on hand to capture the essence and sprit of this great occasion in still photography. Highlights included the chance to meet the legendary John McGuiness and the other riders of the HM Plant Honda Racing team and to see an incredible display from the stunt rider Dave Coates and watch the parade of vintage bikes and the ever popular Mini Moto Club. A gallery of pictures will be uploaded soon – watch this space!
Many thanks to the BikeWise organisers and Durham Photographic Society’s John Attle for organising what we hope will be an ongoing collaboration.
