CLUB NIGHT APRIL 15^th

An exchange visit from one of the most dynamic and successful clubs in the Northern Federation (a bit like ourselves in fact!) – Hexham and District Photographic Society.

CLUB NIGHT MAY 6^th – ELECTION DAY

Our usual meeting place becomes a Polling Station so we will meet instead at County Hall in the Council Chamber at the earlier time of 6.30 to 9 pm.

CLUB NIGHT MAY 13^th

Closing date for one of our most exciting and challenging trio of competitions – Hon Members Cup, Iris Trophy and Fillingham Trophy (set subject “Contre Jour” or against the light). Full details on this website and in your programme. Still time to take those trophy winning pictures!

ASSIGNMENT GROUP – JOIN US!

Next outing is Sat 17^th April, meeting around 10.00 am in Westgate in Weardale and lunch at the Black Bull in Frosterley. Open to all members. New members may like to join us to socialise, get to know people and enjoy the photography. The Black Bull is owned by photographer Duncan Davis and next to Frosterley railway station: www.blackbullfrosterley.com

The idea, having met up, is to be in small groups or do your own thing. Photography opportunities will abound. There will be a follow up session where the pictures are discussed and experiences shared – up to 4 prints, up to A4 in size.

DPS DIGITAL NIGHT

Wednesday 7^th April, County Hall 7 to 9 pm, Conference Room 4B, 4^th floor. It’s a room with a spectacular view of the cathedral so bring your camera. Demonstrations by John Gordon and Alan Clarke plus open Q & A session. If you need help with an image, bring with you, preferably on USB drive.

BRISTOL INTERNATIONAL SALON OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Congratulations to DPS President, David Trout who has two acceptances and DPS member Neil Maughan DPAGB, LRPS who has five. This huge success will hopefully encourage other members to send work, competing with photographers from all over the world, not least to the forthcoming Northern Counties Photographic Federation International Salon of Photography 2010 (details as previously posted).

Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2009

Organised by the National Portrait Gallery, London and sponsored by Taylor Wessing, the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize has firmly established itself as the leading showcase for new talent in portrait photography. The exhibition displays work by some of the most talented emerging young photographers, alongside that of established professionals, students and gifted amateurs.

BIKEWISE EASTER EGG RUN

If you can help to record this year’s event please contact J Attle.
This is quite a spectacle with hundreds of motor bikes travelling from Durham to Darlington to distribute Easter Eggs to the children in Darlington Memorial Hospital and then the children in the University Hospital of North Durham

31st Northern Counties International Salon of Photography 2010

The closing date for entries is 20^th August 2010. Entry forms, that include awards, fees and conditions, are now available from the Society on club nights as well as being on the NCPF website: www.ncpf.org.uk

Two of our members, David Trout and Neil Maughan, enjoyed success in the 2009 Salon which will no doubt encourage many more to try their hand this year. LINK
