BOWBURN BANNER AT BEAMISH

The Bowburn Centenary Banner and Bowburn Junior School Banner were paraded, along with others, to celebrate the opening of the new Lamp Cabin at Beamish Museum on Saturday 28th March. Members of the Society completed a documentary project on the Bowburn Banner in 2006 and have been photographing its progress in the community ever since.

Our President's report to the Committee March 09

The opportunity exists now to upload things quickly to the web to be viewed by the members as a whole. I hope it is possible for all members to see this report as soon as possible as a move towards better communications within the Society. So here goes…

Report of the President to the Committee for February ‘09

I am pleased to say how much I enjoyed the lecture by Jon and Sue Baker. Their landscape pictures took us away from the ‘comfortable’ views which most of us produce and showed us graphic images of demanding country in extreme conditions. Perhaps they ought to have come with the standard health and safety warning about not trying this oneself without proper training.

Another positive is the updated website with has added Forum and Blog areas. I have enjoyed following the debates in the Forum and would urge people to get involved themselves.

The inclusion of winning pictures so soon after the competition results is a very positive step forward as it gives an instant reward to the photographer and an opportunity for members to look again at the pictures. Well done to John B and John A
